This children’s musical was developed by Luis Salgado (In the Heights) and Joshua Henry (Porgy & Bess). I designed, co-built and decorated a set that underwent a number of key transitions. Opening with a dramatic cityscape with projections in the windows, the set broke apart to reveal an urban dolls house. This is turn folded open to show the interior sets for the show (schoolroom and bedroom) which had a colorful asymmetrical design underpinning the importance of play throughout the piece. I brought in and collaborated with a projection artist (Manuel de la Portilla) to add another layer of dynamics to the piece and its magical moments against the backdrop of the historic Teatro del Barrio.
