This was part of a teaching unit at Arts Ed in London, UK. I ran a series of workshops to help guide the students through the design process for both set and costumes. A series of abstract canvas screens could be configured to represent ship, tents and also the landscape. They could be back lit for shadow-play or front lit to blend in with the rest of the set. An oversized map of the terrain is spread across the stage and gradually ebbs back as the characters’ humanity is eroded, disappearing completely when Harry dies to reveal a bare stage. Costumes and props all shared a faded, sun-worn look to convey the pervasive heat and of the environment.
