Spell was a fairy tale Christmas show created in collaboration with an illusionist (Richard Leigh) to realise the various magical elements called for by the story. An Art Nouveau aesthetic carried through the set, costumes and even the props. Painted screens lit up with patterns of tiny lights signified changes in scene. I also designed complex costume elements like realistic frog masks and a gigantic wearable book. This production was later retooled for the Edinburgh Fringe, distilling the elements into a simpler, modular traveling set.
